Want a flagship smartphone? Don’t want to sign another two-year contract with a wireless carrier? We hear you, and so does BLU. The company just announced its new flagship smartphone, the BLU Life Pure XL, and it retails for just $399 without any contract, and direct from Amazon. It’s almost as powerful as the Galaxy S5 and the HTC One (M8), but costs just a fraction of the price.

The device packs a Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.2GHz, 2GB of RAM, a 16-megapixel camera, an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with auto-focus (not too shabby), a 5.5-inch display with a 1920 x 1080 resolution and more. The firm says its 32GB model, which costs a $399, also packs 3GB of RAM. The biggest downside? It still runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean instead of Google’s latest Android 4.4 KitKat operating system. Usually that would be enough to keep us away, but the low price is still pretty attractive, especially since you’re not tied into a contract. The company also stated that it will be upgraded, but wasn’t specific as to when that would occur.

The BLU Life Pure XL is available today exclusively from Amazon for $399 with 32GB of storage, but the cheaper 16GB model with 2GB of RAM is launching in June for just $349, and that’s the same time BLU plans to sell new colors, including blue and pink.
