Following its disappointing launch in early 2013, BlackBerry’s flagship Z10 has seen a series of price drops as the company and its U.S. partners try to shed their inventory. Starting today, America’s two biggest carriers are practically giving the handset away when you sign up for a two year contract, with AT&T charging just 49 cents and Verizon offering the device for free.
Just because you can get a Z10 on the cheap doesn’t mean you should tie yourself down to BlackBerry for the next two years. There’s nothing inherently wrong with the 4.2-inch all-touch device, but there’s nothing particularly special about it either. With the launch of the Z30—as well as countless new smartphones running Android, iOS and Windows Phone—the Z10 is also looking increasingly outdated.
The Z10 comes equipped with a 4.2-inch 1280 x 768-pixel display, a dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage with microSD support, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, an 1800mAh battery, NFC and runs Blackberry 10 out of the box, though an update to 10.2 is currently available. If you’re a die-hard BlackBerry fan and have been looking to save some cash before upgrading, today is probably a good time to make your move.
