Shares of BlackBerry are up at least 12 percent at the time of this article, thanks to a positive note from Bernstein Research, and the company is also pleased with the current demand for its new BlackBerry Z10 smartphone.

"We have supplied initial shipments to our partners and carriers in Canada, the UK and the UAE," a spokesperson told AllThingsD Monday. "We are very pleased that our partners are able to start selling the BlackBerry Z10 so quickly following our global launch event."

It's true that BlackBerry's partners around the globe are already selling its first BlackBerry 10 device, but there has been a bit of concern that it's not yet available in the United States. Still, BlackBerry is pleased with the figures so far. "We are extremely encouraged that the initial demand for the BlackBerry Z10 has been high," the spokesperson added.
