BlackBerry’s Android-powered Priv smartphone isn’t a secret, but the company still hasn’t revealed when it actually plans to release the slider handset. Thankfully, it looks like an official launch could be right around the corner.

The Priv passed through its Bluetooth SIG certification this week. The filing doesn’t reveal much, but it does confirm that the device is that much closer to launching. BlackBerry already promised to release the new phone later this year, so hopefully we won’t have to wait much longer.

The BlackBerry Priv is set to run a pretty clean version of Android with a few extra apps and services, and features a slide-out physical keyboard along with a front-facing speaker. We still don’t have an official list of specs, but the device is expected to pack a 5.4-inch display, a Snapdragon 808 processor and an 18-megapixel rear camera.

We’ve been dreaming of a device with Google’s software and BlackBerry hardware for years, and now it’s finally in sight. We can’t wait to get our hands on the Priv, and it looks like we could finally get our chance in the very near future.
