BlackBerry may not be designing its own smartphones anymore, but that doesn't mean we won't see new devices sporting the BlackBerry logo. What's more, some of them will feature the iconic BlackBerry physical keyboard, according to CEO John Chen.
BlackBerry has been designing and manufacturing its own smartphones since the very beginning, but it took a different route with the recent DTEK50, outsourcing those responsibilities to third-parties. Now it will do the same for all future devices.
While the Canadian company won't design new phones in-house, then, we will still get new handsets with the BlackBerry logo, running BlackBerry software. Some of those will also feature a physical QWERTY keyboard, Chen says.
Check out Chen's interview with Amber Kanwar of Business News Network in the video below, in which he also names his favorite BlackBerry devices.
If you're a long-time BlackBerry fan who's still clinging onto a physical keyboard, then, this will be good news. That's if we can trust BlackBerry to ensure that future hardware partners maintain its high standards for design and build quality, of course.
