BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha Device

We just swung by the press room here at BlackBerry World 2012 in Orlando to bring you a hands-on of RIM’s BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha Testing Device. The phone doesn’t actually run BlackBerry 10, it runs a watered down version of RIM’s BlackBerry PlayBook 2.0 operating system, and that’s very apparent. The entire UI is just like what you’ll find on a PlayBook (although a ton of applications are missing) and RIM says it’s basically just for developers to use in order to create BlackBerry 10 applications. RIM will push updates to the device in the future. The company also stressed that this is in no way final hardware but is simply hardware for developers to use — and it basically looks and performs like a PlayBook with a 4.2-inch screen. For more information on the actual BlackBerry 10 operating system be sure to check out RIM’s teaser video and screenshots.
