Black Nintendo WiiNintendo has released some sales figures for its hardware and software regarding both this holiday season and Black Friday. The company covered the performance of the Wii, the 3DS, Super Mario 3D Land and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Here are some of the stats they released…

During Black Friday, the Wii sold 500,000 units. Skyward Sword has sold more than 535,000 copies since launch in the US alone, making it the fastest moving Zelda title in franchise history. Super Mario 3D Land has sold more than 500,000 copies since launch, making it the fastest selling portable Super Mario title. The Nintendo 3DS saw its sales triple last week compared to the previous banner week of November 6th.

USA Today has a quote from Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America President, regarding the holiday performance of his company's lineup:

"What this has been able to do is drive our Nintendo 3DS business in only eight months to surpass the full first year volume of the original DS and we still have the bulk of the holiday to go…and we still have the launch of Mario Kart 7 (out Sunday, Dec. 4) to continue driving our full-year sales on Nintendo 3DS.

…For us, it really was driven by unique and powerful software and what gives us confidence is that we still have more software to launch in the balance of this holiday period."

I'd like to meet these 500,000 brand new Wii owners… not all at once, of course, as that would probably be the beginning of a full-scale riot. The Wii has sold nearly 90 million units since its launch in 2006. Sales prior to last week had slowed significantly, and I just assumed that was because anyone who wanted a Wii likely already bought one. Nintendo's bundles were enough, it seems, to gain the attention of half a million hold-outs. Kudos to them.

Did you pick up any Nintendo goods last week? If so, what?
