Remember when everybody flipped out when 2K Games unveiled the ridiculously trite BioShock Infinite box art? Irrational Games held a poll to get some opinions about a few different choices, and everyone picked a far more suitable alternative.

And then everyone proceeded to buy the game digitally.

Well, Bethesda is doing the exact same thing for Tango Gameworks’ The Evil Within. Not that there was any uproar or anything about the normal box art, but it just wants to provide fans with some other options. Strangely enough, each of the options has the same “red, white, and black” motif that the winning BioShock Infinite art had.

I’m of pretty sound mind that the best is that “Piercing Eye” Cover. It’s also losing in the poll, though. The Evil Within is a game that is trying to be so gory that you can feel the pain your character goes through, and to me, there is nothing more painful than the thought of damage to the eyes. Even thinking or writing about it sends that familiar shiver down my spine, and it goes without saying that an eyeball surrounded by barbed wire would get me in the mood whenever I sit down to play the game.

Chances are, though, I’ll be buying it digitally, so what does it matter? Well, if you vote, you have a chance of being one of ten people to get a free autographed copy when the game releases. Autographed by who? Bethesda doesn’t say, but it might be Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami.

The Evil Within will be released for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC on Oct. 14.
