It's a tale as old as time…

Alright, fine, I had to get that joke in somewhere so I might as well get it out of the way.

Beginning life as an animated film from Disney in 1991, and then moving on to a successful Broadway production, Belle and the Beast are back for another go at this tale of true love conquering all.

The 2017 live-action film is an adaptation of the animated original and not the Broadway production, so you won't find any of the stage songs. You will, however, find the original animated tunes, along with a few new ones.

The story is the same as it ever was with a few new additions, such as more information about Belle's deceased mother and a bit more detail about the transformation of the prince into the beast all those years ago.

In short, if you have any fond memories of the original film, then you are sure to enjoy Disney's latest live-action re-imagining.

You have to hand it to Disney, the company never shies away from special features. Pretty much anything you could wish for is included in this set. The unorthodox "Enchanted Table Read" is especially engaging as it's unlike anything you've seen before.

Beauty and the Beast is available on Blu-ray, DVD and digitally as of June 6. The only thing keeping us from giving this a 10 is the price. With an SRP of $39.99 – Amazon currently has it for $31.01 – it is not a cheap set. At a lower price point we would give this a perfect score for the amount of extras alone. When it inevitably gets marked down toward the holidays we highly recommend you pick it up.
