No footage of Bayonetta 2 has been seen since an initial announcement teaser last September. Never one to miss a beat, though, the first game's outspoken Director, Hideki Kamiya, has taken to Twitter to reveal that Nintendo will demonstrate the game during an upcoming Nintendo Direct presentation on June 11th.

This showcase will coincide with E3 this year. Nintendo has declined to feature a major on-stage press conference this year, opting to instead focus on smaller Nintendo Direct videos.

The Wii U scored a lot of exclusivity points when it roped in Platinum Games and its highly anticipated sequel. The original was a smash hit on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, walking away with excellent critics scores and the title of Platinum Games' best selling offering.

Some would even go so far as to say it breathed some much needed life into the dwindling hack 'n slash genre.

Despite selling relatively well, Platinum Games confirmed that a sequel would not have been possible unless a new publisher had stepped in since SEGA began restructuring at the time. Thus, Nintendo struck a deal with Platinum and will exclusively support the modern day classic.

Fans of Hideki Kamiya, the creator of Devil May Cry, Viewtiful Joe and Okami, might be sad to learn though that he will not be taking the reigns of Bayonetta 2. Instead, direction will fall on the first game's producer, Yusuke Hashimoto, and production rights have fallen into Platinum Games' CEO Atsushi Inaba's lap.

Expect more from Platinum Games next week on June 11th
