The CW has ordered a pilot episode for Batwoman following the character’s introduction in last year’s epic Elseworlds crossover event. According to Entertainment Weekly, the episode will be helmed by David Nutter, who famously directed The Red Wedding episode in HBO’s Game of Thrones.
While there’s no guarantee the show will get greenlit to series, it’s very probable considering the talent involved. Here’s an official description for the pilot:
Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane (star Ruby Rose) soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.
EW says that Nutter has successfully directed a number of pilots that were picked up for series, the pilot episodes of The CW’s The Flash and Arrow.
