The next Battlefield game will be titled Battlefield V, but that's about the only thing we know at this point. The title was confirmed by the official Battlefield account, which said a larger reveal is scheduled for next Wednesday, May 23.

The announcement comes on the heels of a clever Easter egg discovered by Battlefield 1 players. Basically, the developers finally allowed players to unlock a door found on the Fort Vaux map, which was released last March. Beyond the locked door was a room, which players then realized played Morse code by way of water droplets.

The Morse code eventually led players to a web page, which featured a date of May 23. With exactly a week until that date, the hype train can now commence.

No details about Battlefield V have been revealed, although previous reports claimed the game would take players back to World War II.

Crucially, the upcoming title is said to feature a comprehensive single-player campaign similar to Battlefield 1. That's notable because the next Call of Duty will reportedly be multiplayer-only.

The big reveal will be streamed on YouTube, Twitch and Mixer.
