As of March 30, 2015, a whole slew of Bandai Namco games on the iOS platform have been removed. Even further, those with free-to-play elements are no longer supported.

The company, for a currently unknown reason, removed what appears to be all games released before 2011 on the App Store. I’ve looked for several from the list of titles pulled, and I can’t find a thing.

That includes my personal favorite Bandai Namco franchise that played horribly on mobile devices, Katamari. Both Katamari Amore and i Love Katamari have been pulled. Here’s the rundown of major known titles from Siliconera, though we know there are more.

  • i Love Katamari
  • Katamari Amore
  • Noby Noby Boy
  • Splatterhouse
  • Pac-Chomp
  • Time Crisis 2nd Strike HD
  • Namco Games Portal
  • Ace Combat Assault Horizon: Trigger Finger
  • Galaga Remix
  • Dig Dug Remix
  • Pac-Man Remix

Prior to their removal, all of these games featured the same notice at the head of their App Store descriptions: “We regret to inform you that service for this application will be terminated as of 3/30/2015.”

None of these titles were particularly stellar mobile efforts, so I’m not exactly crushed by their removal. It is, however, a problem when we consider the digital future of the games we play and, perhaps more importantly, pay for. If you bought the premium version of Katamari on your iPhone and you wanted to download it again, you now no longer have that option.

It’s gone. That’s lame.
