“In Avengers: Infinity War, the Avengers will meet the Guardians of the galaxy.” That’s a direct quote from Kevin Feige, head of Marvel Studios. And that’s just a snippet of what he talks about in a brand new teaser released for the film.

With production on the movie beginning late last month, everyone appears to be in a pretty good mood. Tony Stark and Peter Parker are hanging out with Star-Lord. Thor and Rocket are cooperating. Things are looking on the up-and-up. But how long with the relaxed mood last?

Since launching Iron Man in 2008, Marvel has been setting a foundation for a much larger, more complex structure, and next year’s Infinity War will be the culmination of all that work. Avengers: Infinity War will see these characters face their biggest threat yet.

It’s awesome to see everyone so excited for the film—and it’s so cool to see all these characters become a team. Things didn’t end so well in Civil War, so a lot needs to get fleshed out before everyone comes together. But at least we know the Guardians will be joining the Avengers at some point down the road (as if we didn’t already expect that).

Watch out Justice League

Marvel Studios is typically pretty secretive about ongoing projects, and with Infinity War’s release so far away, it’s unusual to see such a long teaser for the movie. But the studio appears pretty confident in what’s to come. It may serve as a quick jab at the DCEU, which will churn out Wonder Woman and Justice League later this year.

My only question is: With an Infinity War teaser released so far ahead of the movie’s release, when are we getting a teaser for Thor: Ragnarok? All in good time, I suppose. For now, enjoy the teaser above.

Avengers: Infinity War is set for a release on May 8, 2018.
