Avengers: Endgame is shaping up to be one of the biggest movies we’ve ever seen by taking what happened in Avengers: Infinity War to the next level. As such, it’s expected to be a long movie and the Russo Brothers seemingly confirmed it will be the longest MCU movie to date.

The Russo Brothers have kept many elements behind Endgame under wraps, but the runtime has not been one of them. They’ve been open about the fact that the movie might be really long, hinting that it could be three hours though they did seem to want to trim the runtime down at least a few minutes. As the editing process has advanced, their tune has changed somewhat.

In an interview with Empire Magazine, the Russo Brothers talked about the runtime for the movie and revealed that it will likely be three hours long given the magnitude of the story.

“There’s a high probability that this movie will clock in at around three hours,” said Jose Russo. “It’s a big movie with a lot of story.”

While it’s not a given Avengers: Endgame will reach that three-hour mark, the Russo Brothers made it clear it will at least come close. Like Joe said, there’s a lot of story to tell and that’s going to require extra screen time. They have to tie all of the loose ends left by Infinity War while setting up where the MCU will in the next few years.

That probably wasn’t possible in a tidy two-hour movie, which is why the Russo Brothers are making it clear the movie will be a long one.
