Avengers: Endgame is now starting opening worldwide and, as was expected, it is proving to be an absolute monster at the box office. The latest Marvel Cinematic Universe movie took in a massive $169 million in its first day at the worldwide box office, paving the road for a record-breaking weekend.

A day later, it opened in the U.S. and took in $60 million, setting yet another record surpassing Star Wars: The Force Awakens single day tally of $57 million. In total, Avenger: Endgame has taken in $305 million worldwide in its first two days of release.

Wordwide, Avengers: Endgame is expected to take in as much as $800 million by the time the weekend is over, thoroughly shattering the previous record by Infinity War. To put that into context, that's as much as other blockbuster movies make in their entire run. In fact, it took the MCU six movies to reach that mark for the first time.

Here's how the top five worldwide openings stack up.

  1. Avengers: Infinity War - $640.5 million
  2. The Fate of the Furious - $541.9 million
  3. Star Wars: The Force Awakens -$529.0 million
  4. Jurassic World - $525.5 million
  5. Harry Potters and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 - $483.2 million

Needless to say, Avengers: Endgame is going to shatter these numbers and claim the top spot before it's all said and done.

Endgame is buoyed gigantic expectations and sterling reviews (including ours) that are praising the movie as a worthy end to the Avengers storyline that has been 22 movies in the making. The sky is the limit to the how high Avengers: Endgame's box office performance will be.
