Right at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, after Thanos gets his hands on the Time Stone, the Mad Titan quickly heads to Wakanda where the Avengers are holding off a horde of invading forces. It’s then a crucial death happens.

Before Thanos can get his hands on the Mind Stone, Scarlet Witch destroys it and kills Vision in the process. Thanos then reverses time by using the Time Stone, before ripping the Mind Stone from Vision’s head. It’s one of the MCU’s more heartbreaking moments.

But Vision may still be alive.

A new fan theory argues that as Shuri was attempting to extract the Mind Stone from Vision’s head (before Thanos arrived in Wakanda), she quietly called an audible and uploaded his consciousness into a computer. She’s able to pull off this “mind heist” just as her lab is attacked.

The fan theory provides some convincing evidence in the form of screenshots. As the theory goes, Vision’s consciousness is represented visually with six primary sections branching off the stone. As the connections are uploaded, they change from orange to blue, signifying the upload has been complete.

As you can see in the screenshot above, the visual representation turns all blue, possibly proving that Vision’s consciousness has been uploaded to a computer and is safe and sound.

If Shuri did succeed in uploading Vision’s consciousness, it means he could easily return in Avengers 4. Whether he’ll go back to being Jarvis or if Shuri will build a new body for him remains to be seen.

We’ll find out when Avengers 4 hits theaters on May 3, 2019.
