When Avengers 4 lands in theaters next May, we’ll see the fallout of Thanos’ devastating snap. But don’t expect the movie to pickup right after Avengers: Infinity War. According to a new report, the movie will feature a time jump that will show the world attempting to rebuild following the annihilation of half of all life.
SuperBroMovies writer Daniel R took to Twitter to say Avengers 4 starts years after Avengers: Infinity War, not just a few months as some people anticipated.
That’s a heartbreaking admission, because we might meet a world resigned to a fate in which half of all life was turned to dust. I wonder what the fallout for the Avengers will be like after they were unable to stop the Mad Titan? You know they’ll be blamed for what happened.
At a moment like that, it will be interesting to see whether or not the Avengers get closer or grow further apart. Tony Stark and Steve Rogers weren’t on speaking terms as it is, and it’s unlikely they’ll have any reason to reconcile. For that matter, we don’t even know how Tony will get back to Earth after being stranded on Titan.
With time travel expected to play a major role in Avengers 4, that may explain the time jump. An earlier rumor claimed Scott Lang will get sucked into a time vortex within the Quantum Realm and end up five years into the future, where he and Tony will come up with a way to harness the Quantum Realm to go back in time.
Plus, Doctor Strange hinted at there being multiple timelines—one of which will see the Avengers defeat Thanos. With years taking place between Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4, that should be enough time for the team to come up with a plan to undo the damage done by Thanos.
Avengers 4 will hit theaters on May 3, 2019.
