Marvel's most exciting hero might not be around for much longer, according to a new Avengers 4 theory. On Reddit, user Danishroyalty argues that Ragnarok, which we thought occurred in Thor: Ragnarok, is still going on and will culminate with the death of Thor in Avengers 4.
Danishroyalty explains:
In the movie Thor: Ragnarok, Asgard is destroyed, completing the prophecy. But according to the movie, Asgard isn't a place it's a people." So Asgard still lives, including Thor. therefore, I think Ragnarok isn't over when Infinity War starts and that Thanos is completing the rest of the prophecy (unknowingly)… He kills Loki, and most of the other Asgardians. The only one we know with absolute certainty survived is Thanos. But for Ragnarok to be complete, Thor needs to die.
That would be a huge blow, because Thor has quickly become the MVP of the MCU. This whole time we've been expecting Captain America to bite the dust in Avengers 4, not Thor.
In the mythology, Ragnarok foretells the death of a number of Gods, including Thor, Odin, Heimdall, and Loki. These gods do eventually come back to life, however. Seeing as Thor is still alive, the Ragnarok storyline might not yet be complete.
Of course, Loki might not be dead either if history is anything to go by. But the theory does make a good argument. We'll find out what happens when Avengers 4 hits theaters on May 3, 2019.
