All systems were go early this morning for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus pre-orders, but Apple’s site was overloaded forcing folks to wait hours to get an order in. AT&T’s site was working for the most part though it, too, was buggy. Apparently the demand was great, however, and former AT&T Mobility CEO Ralph de la Vega, now the company’s CEO of AT&T Mobile and Business Solutions, made a few early comments on sales Friday morning.

“It’s amazing to see the volume,” de la Vega told FierceWireless. “Systems are rocking and everything is going well.” The executive told FierceWireless that AT&T is seeing increased demand over last year and the year before. “I think this design is particularly good,” de la Vega commented, noting that AT&T typically sees an increase in pre-orders each time Apple changes the design of its iPhones.

Systems weren’t quite rocking this morning on our end, where we found it hard to place an order for the iPhone 6 Plus through AT&T’s site. As of this publication, we’re still unable to manage our orders that were placed early Friday morning.

AT&T is the only wireless firm so far to comment on early demand but we’ll let you know if we hear from its competitors.
