Assassin’s Creed Unity, the next generation installment in Ubisoft’s storied franchise, will let you join up to three friends in the game’s open world. The new game is taking place during the French Revolution—and Microsoft showed off an exclusive gameplay demo during its conference today. In a word: AMAZING. The next generation gameplay looks absolutely stunning, and the multiplayer dynamic is adding an entirely new way to play the game.
In the demo, the friends you play with are indicated by a marker over their head, allowing you to coordinate and keep track of each other’s movement. You can take out multiple baddies at the same time, create distractions, and mark targets as you normally would in the Assassin’s Creed Universe. At one point, Microsoft showed off each player fighting their own battle, only to gang up on a single dictator, which lead to a cut scene.
The next generation graphics look incredible, and the amount of people onscreen at a given moment is impressive—as is the city itself, which is always a major part of the games. Assassins Creed has become one of the most exciting franchises in gaming, and Unity, which will hit next generation consoles only, is shaping up to be the best we’ve ever seen.
