Assassin’s Creed: Empire has seen it second leak in a month. I think there is a rule of thumb out there that three such leaks are the same as an official confirmation. Okay, maybe not, but it should be close.

The first leak came to us through a screenshot on Reddit, and now we’re looking at Swiss gaming retailer WOG for the second one. The listing doesn’t give any screenshots or box art, but it does provide a release window of the fourth quarter of 2017 on the Xbox One. No PlayStation 4 listing has turned up yet.

Nothing is confirmed, especially from Ubsoft, but we’ll keep an eye out for any more leaks or official information.

An origin story thousands of years in the making

It is believed that, if the game really exists, Assassin’s Creed: Empire will take place during the Egyptian Empire, which is pretty much the dawn of civilization if it takes place in the earliest years of the Old Kingdom. Unless the Assassins got their start as nomadic warriors or the early Mesopotamian cities, it’s impossible for an origin story to take place at any other point in history.

This is it, the very beginning of the human race’s dominance over the world, a good place for a series that has spanned the entirety of civilization to reboot itself.
