Max Talbot, a chippy center and agitating hockey player in the NHL, is officially a part of the marketing efforts for Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed III. In the video above, you’ll see Max wield an aging bow and shoot a hockey puck in mid-air with an arrow. It’s fake, but it’s cool.

Okay, so, how do we know this clearly staged viral video is a part of Assassin’s Creed III‘s very expensive marketing campaign? In another video, posted on the same YouTube account, Max Talbot does some finger push-ups. In the background of that scene, and on Max’s sweatshirt, is the Assassin’s Creed logo on an old American flag. See for yourselves.

If you’ve been around TechnoBuffalo a lot, then you might already know that I’m a major hockey fan. And, as much as it might anger a few of our readers, I’m a diehard Penguins fan. Max Talbot was a part of the Pens organization for a long stretch, and his “shush” heard round the world was a large reason why the Pens went on to win the Cup in 2009.

After that fight, the Penguins would rally to beat the Flyers, win the series and move through the Finals in order to win the Stanley Cup. Talbot would score the Penguins’ only two goals in their Game 7 win over the Red Wings. Oh, and if you don’t follow hockey, enjoy knowing that Talbot is a Flyer now. Yikes.

I miss hockey.
