The first bit of story-based DLC for Batman: Arkham Knight will officially arrive for season pass owners on July 14. "Batgirl: A Matter of Family," as it's known, will sell for those without the season pass on July 21 (a week later) for $6.99.
What is it? Well, it's a prequel to the events in Arkham Asylum, and it was developed by WB Games Montreal, the same studio that did Arkham Origins.
Justin Vazquez, Design Producer for the DLC, talked with Entertainment Weekly about the content in the drum up to San Diego Comic Con.
The content takes place in the nautical theme park built on the oil rig that you probably saw out in the distance in Arkham Knight. The main villain here is the Joker, and he'll work with Harley Quinn to bring down Batgirl and Robin. That means we'll have access to the Dual Play system once again.
Vazquez had this to say regarding Batgirl's play style and what the game was designed around.
"Hacking is really what separates her from the other characters. It's a gameplay mechanic with which the player can create situations for Batgirl to really shine…
…Our intention was that Batgirl should be less powerful than Batman, but that Batgirl plus hacking could give her opportunities do things that not even Batman can pull off."
Personally, I want to know about game length. What's $6.99 going to get me? The Harley Quinn pre-order stuff lasted about 20-30 minutes. How long is this $7 package?
