Arc System Works has announced the latest in the Guilty Gear series via a teaser trailer. Even more telling about the game's nature than the impressive graphics is the glorious choice of cheesy unintelligible J-Rock.

Series mainstays Sol Badguy and Ky Kisuke have never looked better than they do in this new Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- teaser, and it's great to see Arc System Works returning to the series which put it on the map. There has not been an original Guilty Gear fighting game since Guilty Gear Isuka came out on the Nintendo DS in 2004.

Guilty Gear X2 has been re-branded and republished five times in a traditional fighting game fashion that would leave even Capcom proud, but this new game is a genuine sequel.

Recently, Arc System Works has been focusing more on its follow-up series, BlazBlue, or outsourcing its high-resolution fighting talents to the likes of Atlus to make licensed games such as Persona 4 Arena.

An even bigger surprise is seeing Arc System Works put the Unreal Engine to use to create the high resolution character art this time around. Has the engine ever been used this way professionally before? I'm having a hard time remembering it powering 2D sprites.

More to come on this exciting fighter as we learn about it.
