We’re just over two months away from the release of Aquaman, and thus far Warner Bros. has only shared one trailer. Make that two.
The studio just dropped another one and it features over five glorious minutes new footage. If you were on the fence about Aquaman’s solo film, you’ll get hyped after seeing the new preview, because IT. IS. AWESOME.
The footage starts off with Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and Mera (Amber Heard) on a quest to find Atlantis. Only, their quest takes them to the Sahara, and not some dark corner of the ocean. When they find what they’re looking for, an old king with a beautiful gold trident arrises.
What’s great about the new footage is that it takes us to the depths of the ocean and also to gorgeous locations on land, where Aquaman and Mera encounter Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II). A chase scene ensues full of destruction and stylish action.
Judging by the footage, there seems to be an intriguing blend of Aquaman lore and humor, delivered the only way Momoa knows how—with utter delight and maximum stoke. It’s fun and exciting and the visuals are fantastic, without all the doom and gloom we saw in Justice League and Batman v Superman.
Aquaman hits theaters on December 21.
