Apple online store down

Apple ceased online sales in Russia on Tuesday in response to "extreme" fluctuations in the value of the ruble. As pointed out by Bloomberg, the Cupertino company is looking to re-evaluate pricing in the country.

Apple has previously adjusted pricing of its iPhone 6 by as much as 25-percent in the last month due to the ruble's unpredictable value. It's unclear when Apple's online Russian store will return. Russia's currency declined as much as 19-percent on Tuesday alone, further highlighting how extreme ruble fluctuations can be.

"Our online store in Russia is currently unavailable while we review pricing," said Alan Hely, an Apple spokesman. "We apologize to customers for any inconvenience."

Apple's online store has only been available to customers in Russia for a few years because of the country's uncertain currency. To deal with the ruble swings, Apple might be forced to increase prices once again if and when the store comes back online.
