The Apple Watch is set to launch on April 24, but you’ll be able to try one out at the Apple Store on April 10, when you’ll also be able to reserve one. That may be the only way to get your hands on the new smartwatch on day one, according to a new report.
9to5Mac said Thursday that Apple Watch stock is expected to be extremely limited on April 24, with most stores assuming there will be zero units available for walk-in customers that day. Even if some models are available, it’s unlikely you’ll find the exact right combination of watch and band. One possible exception is China, where Apple is apparently shipping extra units.
Luckily there’s a solution. Starting April 10 you can set up a 15-minute appointment to check out the Apple Watch, and retail employees may even offer fashion advice during that two-week preview. At the same time, you’ll also be able to reserve your own device to pickup on April 24.
So, basically, the only way to get your ideal Apple Watch on day one is to visit a store before the release. 9to5Mac notes that Apple isn’t even offering online preorders for in-store pickup, leaving just one option for the company’s die-hard fans.
