Famed iOS developer and jailbreaker Comex has hacked Apple's new Watch OS to bring a tiny web browser to Apple Watch. The short clip below shows the device browsing Google while feeding off an iPhone's data connection.

Like most other smartwatches, the Apple Watch does not ship with a web browser. No one wants to browse the web on a 1.5-inch screen when they have a smartphone in their pocket, so it would just be unnecessary. Nevertheless, it's cool to see Apple Watch running apps it shouldn't have.

Comex also demonstrates an iOS dictionary view on the Apple Watch in the image at the top of this post.

This could be the first step towards unauthorized Apple Watch apps, or an Apple Watch "jailbreak." Perhaps you would never want a web browser, but how about third-party watch faces, and native apps that run on the Watch itself, rather then in the background on an iPhone.

For now, Comex isn't making any promises; this is nothing more than a fun look at what Apple Watch can do in a hacker's hands. But it's surely just a matter of time before the device has a third-party app ecosystem just like iOS devices do.
