Bloomberg reports that Apple is in negotiations to bring HBO Go to to the Apple TV, further strengthening the company's favorite hobby against the competition. If talks go well, the iPhone maker could introduce the service to its platform as soon as this summer. Currently HBO Go is available for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

Despite Apple's device frequently being billed merely as a hobby, CEO Tim Cook has maintained the company's "intense interest" in the TV market. Whether that means Apple will release a full-scale television remains to be seen. At this point, following numerous rumors, the prospect doesn't seem particularly promising. But at least refreshes are still incoming.

Be that as it may, Apple's attempt to grab HBO Go will further encroach into consumers' living rooms—the company managed to sell two million Apple TVs last quarter.

"I tend to believe that there's a lot we can contribute to this space," Cook said during the company's most recent earnings call. "And so we continue to pull the strings and see where it leads us."
