In its quest to flesh out content for its rumored streaming service, Apple is turning to X-Men director Simon Kinberg to lead a new epic science fiction series.
According to Deadline, Apple and Kinberg are very close to agreeing on a deal that would get him on board for the untitled series. The deal is for 10 episodes initially but if it succeeds, more seasons could be ordered.
Kinberg is best known as the producer and writer of multiple X-Men movies, including X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past. He’ll make his directorial debut with the upcoming X-Men movie Dark Phoenix, which will hit theaters this summer. Beyond X-Men, Kinberg has produced notable Hollywood hits like The Martian, Cinderella and Sherlock Holmes.
There are no details about the plot of the series or when it is expected to be available to stream. In the meantime, Apple has been busy closing out deals with other Hollywood talent including Steven Spielberg, Reese Witherspoon and more.
