Apple is holding a 'Shot on iPhone' photo contest; here's how to enter

Brandon Russell
22 Jan 2019

The next photo you take with your iPhone could wind up on a billboard, in an Apple Store, or on Apple’s website. That’s because the company is holding a “Shot on iPhone” challenge where a panel of judges will pick 10 winning photos, and anybody with an iPhone can enter.

From January 22 to February 7, iPhone owners are encouraged to enter the competition by submitting an image to Twitter, Instagram, and/or Weibo. Simply hashtag your photo with #ShotOniPhone, specify which model was used to take the photo, and Apple’s judges will pick its favorites.

Additionally, Apple says you can submit a photo through email by sending it to [email protected] with the file format ‘firstname_lastname_iphonemodel.’

Some of the judges include Pete Souza, former White House photographer for President Obama, Austin Mann, Phil Schiller, Brooks Kraft, Jon McCormack, and Arem Duplessis, among others.

Apple notes that images can be edited, either through the Photos app or using a third-party app. However, Apple’s rules PDF state that entries may not take advantage of hardware attachments, such as Moment Lens or Olloclip.

Apple’s famous Shot on iPhone campaign has turned up some incredible photos in the past, so it’ll be exciting to see which 10 images win the new contest. For tips on how to capture the best pictures with your phone, check out our post down below.
