Public service announcement: Be on the lookout for a phishing scam that tries to mimic an official Apple email. UK website This is Money recently received several reports from readers who provided examples of the phishing attacks. Sadly, they’re probably convincing for the unaware.

The emails, sent from a fake Apple email account, suggest that an end user has purchased content, such as apps, a Netflix subscription, movies or music, and that they’ve been charged a specific amount of money. Assuming the reaction of a user will be to try to fight the bogus charges, the email offers an area where one can request a refund. This is where a user is asked to submit his or her bank information and account.

It appears these emails are sent to users in the UK and the U.S. at the very least, so be on the lookout.
