A new hire might hint toward new products coming from Apple. The company reportedly recently hired a Dolby executive who will be responsible for working on improving audio and visual products, 9to5Mac said Tuesday.

The executive, Mike Rockwell, served as the executive vice president of Dolby's advanced technology group and, according to his LinkedIn profile, has experience in streaming media, digital video, audio processing and sound. The social network also suggests Rockwell joined Dolby in 2007 as a senior vice president of engineering; he left the company for Apple about two months ago.

9to5Mac suggests that Rockwell might be joining Apple to help build new Cinema displays, which so far haven't been updated to the sharpness offered by some of its other products, like the iMac with 5K retina display. At the very least, Rockwell will help Apple "bolster the audio and display performance of future Apple products," 9to5Mac explained.
