It’s been over a year since Apple Pay launched in the U.S., but the mobile payment app still isn’t available in Canada. Thankfully it looks like that’s about to change, with at least one major credit card company set to bring the service to the country starting Tuesday, November 17.

iPhone in Canada reports that American Express will start supporting Apple Pay in Canada on Tuesday. The site was able to confirm the news with Amex customer service agents multiple times. The below image, captured from an email, also suggests that, while support isn’t yet active, the foundation for support seems to be in place:

It’s unclear if Apple Pay will get a broader rollout in the country at all. An earlier report from The Globe and Mail revealed that Apple has been clashing with credit card companies over how to expand the service in Canada and around the world. Visa and MasterCard in particular have allegedly been pushing back against Cupertino.

If that’s still the case, Apple Pay may get a very limited launch in Canada. Then again, if the service does take off with American Express customers, Visa and MasterCard may have no choice but to give in as well.
