Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre Unveil Beats By Dr. Dre 2011 Holiday Product Line-Up

Apple is reportedly gearing up to relaunch Beats Music sometime around the Worldwide Developer's Conference in June, but things might not be going exactly to plan.

The company, which was recently referred to as "cutthroat" in its attempt to force Spotify and other services to cut off free streaming alternatives, is apparently having a rough time sealing music deals of its own.

"June won't be the release date," one source told Billboard recently. "The deals aren't done," the source added, referring to licensing agreements that Apple needs with record labels who represent recording artists. A separate source was more bullish and said that Apple can probably get its eggs in order in time for a June launch, because of "Apple's track record of generating revenue for rights holders."

If Apple has enough deals established by June, it's plausible the company could at least announce the service is coming at a later date. But if there isn't enough on the table, maybe all will be quiet on the music front.
