A pair of suspect photos of the iPhone 5S's retail packaging have hit the Internet, giving us our first alleged look at the device's tweaked home button. There's no way of verifying the legitimacy of these images, though with mere days until Apple takes the stage in San Francisco, it's not all that hard to believe someone is already in possession of a retail unit.
The device is essentially identical to the existing iPhone 5, save for that odd gray ring around the home button—there's no square on the button either, which has been a staple of Apple's mobile products for years. We've seen all shades of Apple's upcoming iPhone 5S, and even parts confirming the device's supposed fingerprint scanner. But we have yet to see a complete unit, and while this is only a look at the retail packaging, it could indicate what to expect at Apple's Sept. 10 event.
Not only will Apple introduce a fingerprint scanner, but the iPhone 5S's home button will supposedly be tweaked to take on more of a convex designs, rather than the familiar concave folks are used to. There's no way of telling from these photos alone, but if they are legitimate, the iPhone 5S's home button will definitely be a huge topic of discussion next week.
