The news was revealed through an internal memo sent to Apple retail stores about the Smart Keyboard’s “functional issues.” These issues include the Smart Connector not working properly and issues with the keyboard, including sticking keys, unresponsive keys and unwarranted repeated keystrokes.

The issues were widespread enough for Apple to extend the warranty. Warranty for the Smart Keyboard was originally issued for the standard one-year length, but that has been extended to three years of free repairs. The extension will be granted towards anyone who purchased a Smart Keyboard for the two models of the iPad Pro.

The Smart Keyboard for the 9.7-inch iPad Pro retails for $150 and $170 for the 12.9-inch version

What to do if you’re affected?

If you are being affected by the functional issues to your Smart Keyboard, you can either walk into any Apple store or Apple Authorized Service Provider for immediate service, or you can call Apple’s customer service to begin the process of fixing the issue.
