Apple made several announcements on Wednesday afternoon. From new iPhone models to a life-saving smartwatch, the big event had it all.
The iPhone XS made its global debut and blew us away, and it was joined by the iPhone XR. It might be less expensive, but it's just as powerful in almost every way. Meanwhile, the Apple Watch Series 4 dazzled with a refreshed design. If you were looking for fresh hardware, you got plenty.
While it was all the tech community could focus on, maybe you missed out on the entire presentation. It's not too easy to sneak away from work or school and catch a 2-hour live-stream. So that's why Apple put together a condensed video detailing the most important parts.
Here's the recap, courtesy of Apple:
The 108-second clip starts with an outside shot of Apple Park. From there, it's a dive right into the iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max. Both flagships are touted for their edge-to-edge screens, A12 Bionic chip, and durability. Apple then switches over to the iPhone XR and its no-compromise value for consumers.
Quickly, the recap mentions the various things that the iPhone XR shares with the iPhone XS. Apple also highlights the Liquid Retina (LCD) panel and the single-camera setup with advanced capabilities. Next up, the Apple Watch Series 4 gets attention for its larger display.
Aside from the display, the new Apple Watch's activity tracking and wireless connectivity earn attention. But the Cupertino-based company really took a moment to showcase the electrical heart sensor. Unlike a traditional unit, this one lets you take an electrocardiogram (ECG) for enriched data.
Tim Cook, Apple's CEO, also appears at the end of the video. He asks why Memoji wasn't highlighted, but Apple cuts him off despite the feature being Cook's favorites. It's a humorist twist for what feels like a pretty serious recap.
In the year ahead, we'll see how Apple continues advancing these products and keeps the competition at bay.
