With new models of AirPods, iPads, and iPhones all expected at some point in 2019, Apple fans have plenty to look forward to. But Apple also has exciting new services on the horizon, according to CEO Tim Cook.
In an interview with CNBC, Cook revealed the company is gearing up to launch new services in 2019, though he stopped short of divulging details. Given the number of rumors over the past several months, it’s not hard to guess what Cook is teasing.
Apple allegedly has a number of high profile TV shows currently in development, including a drama with Jennifer Anniston and Reese Witherspoon, as well as a show from the creator of Peaky Blinders. The Cupertino company is also developing original films in partnership with A24.
Of course, Apple has dabbled in original content before with Planet of the Apps and Carpool Karaoke, but this upcoming service will bring an onslaught of new content. The aim is to battle against the likes of Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon, all of which have an established presence in streaming.
Not to mention Apple’s AirPlay 2 is coming to a number of TVs later this year, which is a clear move toward getting into more living rooms.
It’s unclear what other services has planned, but it’s clear Apple is very serious about what lies ahead.
