pinterest app pins

Pinterest already makes it easy to find great recipes, articles and products to organize on your own virtual corkboard. Now, the social network is rolling out a new feature designed to help you track down the best apps available for your iOS device as well

The company announced app Pins on Wednesday, making it possible to download new apps for your iPhone or iPad straight from Pinterest. Applications will show up in relevant searches, where you can also pin them to check out later. Additionally, Apple is launching its own App Store account on the site, where you can peruse some of the company's top picks in categories like Fashion, Healthy Recipes and Editor's Choice.

Pinterest says it won't be making any money off app Pins at the moment, though it's possible we could see sponsored posts appear in the not-too-distant future. For now, the social network simply hopes to offer better alternative to Apple's own App Store, which can feel cluttered and confusing if you don't know exactly what you're looking for.

"We can be a really powerful service for app discovery, which is a problem that still really hasn't been solved," Pinterest co-founder Evan Sharp told The New York Times. It comes as a bit of surprise, but Pinterest and the App Store may be a perfect match.
