Apple OLED TV - Siri

We learned on December 12 that Apple was in the

“early stages” of testing designs

for its own television set. Now, sources from Apple supplier Hon Hai speaking to

Focus Taiwan

claim that Apple is already testing a set with a screen size between 46-inches and 55-inches. The news outlet suggests that Apple will need to get its panels from Sharp, but that it’s unlikely it will settle on a supplier before the end of 2012. In other words, if this report is correct we won’t see Apple’s new television until 2014, if at all.

Tim Cook recently said that dominating the living room and changing the way we view TV is an “intense area of interest” for Apple. It’s arguable that the company can continue to do this with its existing Apple TV set top box, however. Still, we’re intrigued to see how Apple can change the physical television set and our existing clunky remotes.

Can you imagine using Siri voice controls to change the channel and an iOS powered set complete with apps?
