Rovio has announced that it is in production on 52 episodes of an Angry Birds animated series.

It seems that there is a lot more Angry Birds coming out way in the fall.  Rovio has announced that it is producing 52 episodes of an animated series that will run two and a half to three minutes per installment.  According to Deadline, Nick Dorra, head of animation at Rovio, told a conference this weekend, "We want to be present on all possible screens," and that the distribution partners are still being worked with.

The animated movie that was first discussed last October  isn't due until 2015 at the earliest.

Being a lifelong fan of animation, I have a hard time imagining what exactly can be accomplished in such short episodes.  Dorra said they are looking at "telling more engaging stories…and deeper thoughts, deeper feelings of the characters, such as, why are they always angry?"  Personally I always thought that was kind of covered by the pigs stealing the eggs, but perhaps there is more to it?
