A leaked document from French carrier SFR has allegedly confirmed the LG G2 will get Android 4.4 KitKat either this month or next, at least in France. We can assume the software upgrade will also hit American handsets, though it could take a bit longer since U.S. carriers tend to test software for several weeks or months before pushing it out to customers.
SFR’s leaked chart of software updates for November shows plans to update the G2 to Android 4.4 KitKat in November or December, suggesting it could be the first non-Google device to get the update. That makes sense considering the Nexus 5 is modeled after the G2, meaning the new OS should need the least tweaking to run on the phone.
The latest leak doesn’t reveal when any other flagship devices will get KitKat, suggesting it won’t be until next month at the earliest. HTC already went on the record to confirm the HTC One will get the newest version of Android within 90 days, meaning it may not arrive until early 2014. Meanwhile, Motorola has confirmed that the Moto X and its latest batch of DROID devices will also get the update, though the company hasn’t revealed any soft of timeframe.
