Get ready to wet your pants all over again: Amnesia: The Dark Descent developer Frictional Games has announced a new horror game, SOMA, due for release on PC and PlayStation 4 in 2015.

In the tradition of Frictional’s previous games, SOMA is a first-person horror title. The demo is short, but it looks like the focus will be on exploration and avoidance rather than combat.

Taking the place of Amnesia‘s mid-1800s setting is a decidedly H.R. Geiger-esque setting with some imagery that calls to mind some of the Aliens‘ series sets without feeling lifted from it. The official site provides some details on the story:

The radio has gone silent on PATHOS-2. As isolation bears down on the staff of the remote research facility, strange things are happening.

Machines are taking on human traits and alien constructions have started to interfere with routine. The world around them is turning into a nightmare.

The only way out is to do something unimaginable.

Maybe things would’ve gone better if someone didn’t name the facility after the Greek word for pity and sadness.

The short video looks as polished and deeply unsettling as you’d want, and fans of the previous titles from Frictional will definitely want to be on the lookout for SOMA when it hits in 2015.
