Amazon Instant Video - Samsung TV

Amazon Instant Video is on its way to becoming more of a serious threat to the likes of Netflix as it now adds a native Samsung TV app to its arsenal.

One of the biggest hurdles for any streaming media service is accessibility. Netflix has made a real push to make sure that its Watch Instantly software has been crammed into every device imaginable, and if anyone wants to make a serious run at taking them on, they will have to do the same. While Hulu Plus has been showing up more and more, Amazon Instant Video has definitely been lagging behind somewhat. While it has been available on devices such as Roku and the iPad, the real battleground is becoming native apps in the televisions themselves.

To that end, Samsung and Amazon announced this week that beginning with the 2012 models of TVs form the Korean manufacturer, you can download a native Instant Video app to your television. You'll find all of your already purchased videos at your fingertips, along with all of the ones available for purchase. If you're an Amazon Prime member, you will also find the 30,000 videos that you can stream for free.

Netflix definitely begin looking in the rear view mirror for this contender creeping up behind it.
