Amazon today opened up the virtual doors of its online store in Mexico, in what the retail giant is describing as its "biggest international launch ever." It comes two years after Amazon began selling ebooks to Mexican consumers via its Kindle Store. is a Spanish-language online store that will already be familiar to anyone who's ever used Amazon before. It offers a vast selection of products at low prices across a large number of categories — more than any other international Amazon store has had a launch.

Those categories include consumer electronics, video games, sports and outdoors, kitchen and home, health and personal care, watches, movies and TV series, music (but not MP3s), and more. There are also "millions of unique items" just for Mexico, Amazon says.

"The expansion of represents Amazon's biggest international launch ever," said Juan Carlos García, Country Manager for Amazon Mexico. "With convenient and secure payment options and fast delivery, our goal is to deliver a world-class shopping experience for customers in Mexico."

In addition to, shoppers in Mexico can now use Amazon's apps for Android and iOS to browse and buy products from the online store. The apps can also be used to track orders, contact customer support, and read product reviews.
