Amazon is getting serious about mobile gaming and finding new ways to get into their competitor's devices with an update to GameCircle.
One of the most annoying things for anyone who plays mobile games is not being able to pick up any old device and pick up where you left off on another device. Sure, some apps provide this service, but they tend to be the exceptions. With the launch of the latest version of the GameCircle SDK from Amazon, however, it is now easier than ever for any developer to add this functionality.
According to the Amazon blog post announcing the new tools, it will take a developer less than an hour to get the service up and running, and from there on out Amazon handles everything else. And best of all, it's free to use.
Beyond the synching capabilities that users are sure to enjoy, developers will also get an interesting new tool that tells them which achievements their players are earning. It will be an easy look for small developers into which parts of the games their users are engaging with the most.
While this is a nice move on Amazon's part, you have to also suspect that this is an easy way for the retailer to get a bit of a view of what is going on over at iOS. So a win-win for everyone involved?
