New photos have appeared online of the alleged rear shell of the fifth generation iPad in both space gray and silver.

Sonny Dickson, a blogger who revealed many leaked photos of the iPhone 5c, has returned with new images of what he claims are the rear shell for the upcoming iPad 5. The parts shown in the images show off the device’s black plate in both silver and Space Gray, the new Apple color that was introduced with the iPhone 5s earlier this month.

There had already been a report earlier this month that the iPad 5 would come in the same colors as the iPhone 5s, but to date the only proof we’ve seen of a gold version has been some leaked SIM trays. That being said, that same leak seemed to hint at the Space Gray model, and that back panel had not been seen until these photos appeared, meaning there may still be a gold version lurking out there somewhere.

Apple has not yet announced when it will be introducing the iPad 5, or the smaller iPad mini 2, but the rate with which leaks are popping up leads us to believe the announcement may not be too far away. Some rumors are indicating Oct. 15 may be the date of the announcement, so we don’t have to long to wait it would seem.
