The clock is ticking on Research In Motion's BlackBerry 10 release. As 2012 rounds into the home stretch, the Waterloo-based company has just a few months before its day of reckoning arrives. There's a lot riding on its arrival, to say the least, meaning the company will be under more scrutiny than is the norm for major OS releases. And what do you know? Out comes pictures and even a video of the alleged OS in action.

Honestly, there's not much to dissect in either leak. The picture shows what is supposedly BlackBerry 10's homescreen and, um, it's a bit of a let down. Granted, this could be very early software that doesn't represent the final product, but just judging from the screen, the designers over at RIM need a good dousing of cold water — the icons remind me of some Netscape browsing horror show from the 90s.

The video is even less revealing, so we'll bite our tongues until we get more of an idea of what BB10 will really look and act like. The music doesn't really set a hopeful mood; let's just hope our feeling of somberness doesn't indicate RIM's eventual demise.
